Gutwasser, Mr./Mrs. Fred (Gold - 28 FEB 1926)

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gutwasser celebrated their Golden Wedding last Sunday, Feb. 28th, 1926. Even the weatherman was in their favor and gave them a beautiful day, and as all their children and their grandchildren, excepting one grandson, Cecil Hahn, were with them, the day was a joyous one indeed.

A bounteous dinner was served at noon, Mrs. Anna and Jane Garbisch ably assiting in serving the assembled guests. The table was decorated in a manner fitting the occasion, gold bowls with beautiful jonquils in, which glistened and sparkled in the sunlight.

The bride was beautifully attired in midnight blue flat crepe with gold lace trimming and the groom in an elegant tailor made suit was almost as young and gay as that day 50 years ago when they started life's journey together.

After dinner, Rev. V. M. Keiper, their pastor, read the marriage ceremony and Mr. and Mrs. Gutwasser renewed the vows before the assembled loved ones. And probably they reviewed together the 50 years gone by more than 42 of them having been spent in Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., for it was in the summer of 1883 when they came here.

There has been much happiness and some sorrow, joy in watching their children grow to womanhood and manhood and taking a useful place in the world, and sorrow when they laid away the dear little ones they loved so, but as they grow older they can see more of life and understand better and say "All is well", but you mustn't thing from this that Mr. and Mrs. Gutwasser are old. Indeed not, Mr. Gutwasser is 71 and Mrs. Gutwasser is 72 years young, which is not old. Mr. Gutwasser is not as spry as he used to be, owing to the fact that his eyesight is failing, but Mrs. Gutwasser makes you thing of a girl when you see her come tripping down the street.

For a good many years Mr. Gutwasser was one of our leading hardware merchants so of course they are well known as well as well liked in Dorchester country.

As we have already said, the children were all there, Miss Lydia, the youngest daughter who stays at home, Arthur Gutwasser, wife, Velma and Leonard of Chippewa Falls, Amanda, Mrs. John Shefsick, her husband and Charles of the town of Holton, and Anna, Mrs. Dr. Hahn, Miss Tuznelda and Waldemar of Eau Claire. Cecil Hahn was the only absentee as he is attending school at Minneapolis getting ready to enter the Naval Academy at Annapolis in June. But he sent a telegram of congratulations to his grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gutwasser and children, and Waldemar Hahn left here Monday for their home so the children could get to school, but Mrs. Hahn and Miss Tuznelda stayed until the last of the week.
