Grimm, Marie Dorothea (6 Jan. 1873 - 1 Aug. 1932)

Mrs. Anton Grimm passed away at her home near Chili Monday, August 1. Mrs. Grimm, whose maiden name was Marie Dorothea *Nobel, was born in Germany, Jan. 6, 1873. After coming to America they settled near Chili, living there for 37 years. She is survived by her husband and son and a daughter living at home.

Charley Grimm, first baseman for the Chicago Cubs, is a nephew.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at Chili Evangelical church, Rev. G. W. Zimmerman officiating.

MRS. ANTON GRIMM

Marie Dorothea Grimm, nee *Nebel, was born Jan. 7, 1873, and passed to her eternal reward at an early hours, Monday, August 1, 1931, at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 25 days.

Mrs. Grimm was born at Hanover, Germany and when 18 years of age she came to America, living for a number of years at Oswego, Ill.

On February 7, 1897, she was united in marriage to Anton J. Grimm, also of Oswego, and where they lived during the fist years of their married life, or until 1895, when they removed to the late farm home in Fremont township, where they since have lived for nearly 37 years, and around which there remains a large number of neighbor-friends and relatives, who will miss the congenial hospitality of the deceased, who always had smiles and kind words for all.

At the age of 20 years she was converted and joined the Immanuel Evangelical church at Chili, Wis., and where she remained a faithful member until death.

At the time of her demise she was a member of the Home Department of the Sunday School of her church, because of ill health she could not attend the services of the church.

She had been a sufferer for several years, but she had lived uncomplainingly, exemplifying as earnest Christian character, with an unwavering faith in her God and her Savior, to whom she remained faithful until her heavenly Father released her from a life of pain, to know the blessing of eternal peace.

Mrs. Grimm was a devoted wife and mother in the home, and where she labored hard for the welfare of her loved ones; and during the closing hours of her life her only concern seemed to be for those she was to leave, and in beautiful words spoke of her readiness to “go home, and be at rest.”

She leaves to mourn her passing a grief-stricken husband, one daughter, Anna, at home, one son, Albert, also at home; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Schilling, and two brothers, Henry and Ferdinand, all of Fremont township, and a large number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. W. Zimmerman, of the Immanuel Evangelical church of Chili, from the late home at 1:00 and from the church at 1:30, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and interment was made at the Evangelical Cemetery in Fremont.

A mixed quartet, Mr. a d Mrs. Chas. Lindow, Mrs. Otto Drescher, and Arthur Happa sang, with Miss Iva Zimmerman accompanying.

The pallbearers were: August Foemmel, Arthur Lindow, F. L. Schilling, Ezra Schilling, Wm. Nebel and Harley Nebel.

Those attending the funeral from away were: Mr and Mrs. Harvey Luedtke of Lomira, Wis., and Mr and Mrs. Walter King, of Coloma, Wis.
