OLEARY-Peter O'Leary

Peter O'Leary, 76, died at his home in Humbird, January 5. Funeral services were held January 8 in the Methodist church there. Burial was made in the town of Mentor cemetery. The Rev. Arthur Gausmann of Merrillan was officiating clergyman.

Mr. O'Leary was born in Monroe county May 16, 1872. He lived with his parents on a farm there for several years, where he also received his education in the rural schools.

On December 24, 1901, he was married to Emma Putman at Humbird. Three children were born to this union, all of whom survive.

He farmed in the town of Mentor until three years ago, when he was forced to retire on account of ill healrh.

He went to Neillsville on Wednesday afternoon to consult a physician. He returned home, ate his usual evening meal and did not complain about being in ill health. He was sitting in a rocking chair when death overtook him.

Mr. O'Leary is survived by his wife, a son, Russel, two daughters, Mrs Earl (Velva) DeLong and Mrs. Jake (Viola) Fitzmaurice, all of Humbird. Two sisters, Mrs. Margaret John Sanders of Cataract, and Mrs. Mary McDowell of Alberta, Canada, also survive.

Pallbearers were: Wesley Walker, Joe Trader, Fred Rupnow, John Fitzmaurice, John Scheffer and Chester Bailey.

Flower ladies were Mrs. Virgil Jinkerson and Mrs. George Hunter. Singers were Mrs. W.E. Waters and Mrs. Walter Smith, who were accompanied by Mrs. H.L. Losey at the organ.

Out-of-town relatives attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Eddy, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eddy of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Len Howard, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Van Kirk of Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. E. Konze, all of Cataract; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bahl, Reedsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Jensen, Green Bay; Irv and Ivan Puttman of Janesville; Mrs. George Hunter of Picket; and Tauno Ranta of Owen.
