Obit: Benzman, Fredericka (1836 –1927)
Surnames: BENZMAN MARKEWSKY FITZLAFF BREMMER Source: WEEKLY CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 07/15/1927 Benzman, Fredericka (23 APR 1836 – 12 JUL 1927) Grandma Benzman, who made her home in Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. village from 1918 until last fall when she moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Fitzlaff, died there Tuesday, July 12th, 1927, and was buried Thursday afternoon from the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church here, Rev. J. Wuebben of Abbotsford officiating. Fredericka Markewsky was born in Luebtow, Pommern, Germany, Apr. 23, 1836, and was 91 years, 2 months and 19 days at time of death. She was united in marriage to Mr. Benzman on June 24, 1884, they came from Germany direct to Dorchester country and settled on the farm two miles south of town now owned by M. J. Hernan. Five children were born to the Benzmans, one daughter, Mathilda, died 12 years ago and Mr. Benzman died in 1899, so only the four children survive the loving mother, Mrs. Minnie Fitzlaff of Abbotsford, Mrs. Pauline Bremmer of Summit Lake, Wm. Benzman of Colby, and Paul Benzman of Milan. Once more we are called on to mourn the death of one of the pioneer settlers that we revere so much for they have done much for us in leaving us this legacy of beautiful farms hewn from the virgin timberlands of this country. It took much hard work and self denial and their descendents can well be proud of them. Of this fine class of folks was Mrs. Benzman; she never minded any duty however hard that helped to make things easier for her dear ones. She will be missed by all who knew her but none would bid her stay. For her the hard work is over and joy waiteth in the morning for those who love their Lord. We join friends in extending sympathy and may the sorrowing find comfort in Him who is ever ready to comfort and help. |
