Obit: Boren, Wyatt (1860 –1929)
Surnames: BOREN COOK NICHOLS VICKERY COWLES Source: LOYAL TRIBUNE (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) 04/11/1929 Boren, Wyatt (21 JUL 1860 – 4 APR 1929) Wyatt Borden passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Marion Cook, on Thursday, April 4, 1929 at 5:30 P. M. He had been in failing health for a year and critically ill for three months. He was born in Jackson Co., July 21, 1860, the son of Eben and Catherine Borden and one of eleven children. When three years of age he came with his parents to Clark county, where his father took up a homestead one-half mile south of what is now Loyal, but was then a wilderness. The deceased lived here continuously with the exception of seven years spent on a homestead in Jim River Valley, Brown County, South Dakota. Much of his time, however was spent around Fort Siston in carrying dispatches and watching the Indians to see that they did not leave their reservation. Mr. Borden never married. He is survived by two brothers, Herbert of Oregon and Norman of the state of Washington.and four sisters, Mrs. Myra Nichols of Waupaca, Mrs. Marion Cook of Loyal, Mrs. Edna Vickery of Washburn and Florence Cowles of Eagle Bend, Minn. Also 28 nephews and nieces and other relatives. He was a kind neighbor and friend always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. The funeral services were held on Sunday at 2:30 P. M. at the home of his sister, Mrs.. Marion Cook. The Rev. Wilson Mallory, a cousin of Granton, officiated. Alfred, Albert and Dan Castner, Paul Meier, Chas. Clouse and Andrew were pallbearers. Burial was made in Loyal cemetery in the family lot. The following from out of town were present at the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nichols, Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cowles, Eagle Bend, Minn.; Mrs. Edna Vickery, Washburn; Mrs. Mrs. Mertie Barrnett and and daughter of Neillsville; Verland Barrett of Beaver and Mrs., Pietenpol of Granton. |
