Garbisch, 95, Neillsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. The Rev. Keith Lueneberg officiated. Music was provided by Marjorie Dahl, organist, and Caroline Helm, soloist. The songs were hymns that were sung at her confirmation and wedding. Burial was in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Clark, Justin Clark, Kenneth Krause, Wayne Kurth, Wayne Garbisch and Russell Kuehn. Edna Bertha Goebel was born April 18, 1909, in Granton, to Paul and Nelda (Garbisch) Goebel. She was born on the Bill and Amie Pongratz farm. She attended Roder School and received religious instruction at Zion American Lutheran Church. She married Ervin Garbisch on June 3, 1931, at Zion American Lutheran Church. They farmed for 42 years on the present June Gorst farm, retiring in 1973, to the present Ben Kuhnhart residence on Maple Street. She was a faithful life-long member baptized, confirmed, married, and released from earthly life at Zion American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Qquilting. She made hundreds of quilts for church organizations and relatives. She also made doll clothes, loved gardening, working on crossword puzzles, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Granton Senior Citizens. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Jean (Norman) Wesenberg, Granton, and Mary Ellen (Rev. Ron) Koplitz, Oshkosh; one grandchild, Lynn (Steve Clark) Wesenberg; two great-grandchildren, Kristi Clark and Justin (fiancée, Aimee) Clark; one sister-in-law, Lovella Garbisch; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1992; her parents; and several other relatives, Leona and Carl Krause, Norman and Martin Krause, Verna and Ray Kurth, Erna and Frank Tykac, Renatta and George Skoda, Melvin Garbisch, Elmer and Lucille Garbisch. Donations received will be given to Zion American Lutheran Church and the Alzheimer’s Research Fund. The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements. |
