Kocher, Donald A. (23 MAY 1921 – 28 FEB 2005)

Donald A. Kocher, 83, Lake Holcombe, formally of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2005, at the Rusk County Nursing Home, Ladysmith. Following a 10 a.m. vivitation, funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joe Follmar will officiate. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery, Greenwood.

Donald A. Kocher was born May 23, 1921, in Greenwood, to Fred and Anna (NEE Pickert) Kocher. He attended Eaton Center School. He farmed until 1947. He married Mary Ann Schmitz on May 12, 1945, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. They moved into Greenwood in 1951, and he worked for Plautz Brothers and Blue Mirror. He began working for Wuethrich Creamery, Greenwood, from 1953, until he retired in 1983. They then moved to Lake Holcombe, where he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, pontooning and especially spending time with his family and many friends. He resided there under the loving care of his wife until entering the Rusk County Nursing Home in December of 2003.

Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn, Lake Holcombe; his children, Jeannie (Maynard) Bowe, Greenwood, Ronald Kocher, Oak Creek, Robert Kocher, Lake Holcombe, Linda (Randy) Vollrath, Wautoma, and Beatie Fox (Bob Hribar and family), The Woodlands, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Theresa Kocher, Marion Kocher, Josephine Herr, and Carol (Burnell) Yaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and three brothers, Ralph Kocher, James Kocher, and Buddy Kocher
