JAMES L BARRETTE

James L Barrette, age 77, of Neillsville, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 at his home.

James was born Sept. 1, 1926 in Wisconsin Rapids to Leo and Almeda (Hodgson) Barrette. He married Alice Mott on June 21, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids.

James attended the University of Wisconsin and later the U.W. Extension in Wisconsin Rapids. James worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. for 37 years retiring on May 31, 1987 as Superintendent of Power and Steam at the Biron Division. James also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944-1947.

James was a member of the Wood County Rifle and Gun Club, the Elks Club and was a Little League Coach. He loved outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, golf, woodworking, carpentry and competitive target shooting. While wintering in Arizona the last 17 years he was an avid participant in senior softball and the senior pool league. Jim was a long time Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan and loved to travel with his motor home club.

Surviving James is his wife, Alice of Neillsville; sons, Steve (Bekke) Barrette, Neillsville; Sam (Roberta) Barrette, Waukesha; daughters, Carol (Richard) Lewis, Neillsville; Jane Johnson, Tempe, AZ; Mary (James) Captain, Wisconsin Rapids; Lisa (Damon) Barrette Foss, Mountain View, CA; 17 grandchildren; brothers, John Barrette, Wisconsin Rapids; Dave (Lorraine) Barrette, Wisconsin Rapids; sisters, Margaret Slewitzke, Mosinee; and Rita (Ray) Kotz, Lakeland, FL.

Preceding James in death are his parents and a brother, Tom.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Andrew Karoblis officiated with Entombment in Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids.
