Surnames: KRAKENBERGER BUCHMANN MAIS LINOW AHRNBRAK EDLER EVERS KRACKENBERGER SHAW Source: DORCHESTER REPORTER (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 01/25/1901 Krakenberger, George (15 JUL 1855 – 20 JAN 1901) The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Elizabeth Buchmann, and was born at Rhine, Sheboygan Co., Wis., on July 15th, 1855. He has five brothers, one of whom, John Krakenberger, is still living, being located at West Duluth and engaged in the lumber business, also six sisters, three of whom are still living, namely: Mars. Steve Mais of Wausau; Mrs. Wm. Lindow of Franklin, Wis., and Mrs. L. Ahrnbrak of Marshall, Oklahoma Territory. His father died when he was five years old and at the age of 20 he and his mother moved to Clark Co., and located in the town of Mayville, he being among the early settlers of this town. He was employed by the W. C. R. R. Co. as section foreman for some time but soon gave that up and turned his whole attention to farming. On Sept. 23rd, 1878 he was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Edler, of Sheboygan Co. and lived on the farm until his removal to this village, where he established a hardware store and has since resided. They were blessed with three sons and five daughters, all of whom are living except one son who died when very young. They are: Elizabeth E.; Mrs. Rosa A. Shaw; Bennie; George F.; Clara M.; and Nora E. A few months after coming to the village his wife died. From a farmer boy with no business training and only a common school education of thirty years ago, he has by economy and perseverance made his one of the leading hardware establishments of this vicinity. On Aug. 17, 1892, he was married to Miss Anna Evers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Evers of this place, by whom he had six children, two of whom are living; Evaline and Hildegarde. The Reporter joins with their hosts of friends in extending their sympathy to the bereaved family in their deep affliction. |
