Agnes Rose Messer, 96, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at the Continental Manor in Abbotsford.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home, Spencer, and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be a rosary service at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born in the town of Holton in Marathon County on June 6, 1908, to August and Rose (nee Laurich) Sauter. She married A. E. "Brownie" Messer on June 17, 1930, at St. Louis Parsonage in Dorchester. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and hands-on crafts. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a charter member of Christian Mothers that later changed to the PCCW, an American Legion Auxiliary member, St. Christina Mission Group and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul.

She is survived by two daughters, Audrey (Herbert) Meyer of Marshfield and Mary Ann (Robert) Endreas of Spencer; one son, Ernest (Donna) Messer of Beloit; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
