Obit: Bullock, Dudley (1865 – 1879)
Surnames: BULLOCK ---------Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 12/24/1879 --------- Bullock, Dudley (1865 – 21 DEC 1879) Died, in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Sunday, the 21st inst., of inflammation of the stomach, in the 14th years of his age, Dudley, only son of Daniel S. and Emma Bullock. The death of Dudley was so very sudden that before it was generally known he was sick, he had passed away, to become one of the bright and shining lights “Over There.” He had, for some time past, been subject to spells of vomiting and severe pains in the stomach, and when, on Tuesday evening of last week, he was taken with a sudden attack, there was no particular alarm felt by either relatives or friends, until Sunday morning, the symptoms became alarmingly worse, and from that time his decline was rapid until half past two he breathed his last. It was with abated breath and stilled beating of the heart that the intelligence of his sudden demise was received by the whole people of this community, among whom he was a general favorite. Dudley was, for a while, connected with this office, but it was found that the state of his health would not permit him to continue at the trade. We found him quiet, gentlemanly and unassuming in his manners, ready and willing, at any time, to do that which was asked of him, if it was only right, and he was just as manly fearless in refusing to do anything which he considered wrong. It was this excellent trait of character that caused Dudley to be so universally loved by all who knew him. The funeral ceremonies were conducted at the Schoolhouse, yesterday, and was largely attended, Rev. W. Woodruff, officiating. The text of his discourse was taken from Matthew 28:6, “He is not here; for he is risen, as he said.” The bereaved family has the deepest sympathies of the entire community. Remember dear friends, there is a promise for you, “you shall meet your loved one there.” |
