Lee, Ella (13 Jan. 1857 – 14 Jan. 1934)

Mrs. Ella Lee, one of the oldest settlers of the Granton community passed away at the home of her son Price Lee, near the village Sunday morning, Jan. 14, aged 77 years and one day.

Although she had not been strong for time past, her death was quite unexpected. The day before she had celebrated her birthday, receiving numerous letters and having several callers, enjoying the day very much.

Ella Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Allen, was born at Iron Ridge, Dodge County, Wis., Jan. 13, 1857. When she was nice years of age she came with her parent who settled on a farm a mile and a half north of the present village of Granton. Here she grew to womanhood.

March 26, 1877 she was married to Noble Ell Lee, and soon after settled on the farm which was their home the rest of their lives. Mr. Lee died on April 18, 1925, and Mrs. Lee continued to live with their son Price and wife who took over the home farm.

Mrs. Lee was a woman who brought forward to modern times all the good traits and traditions of pioneer life. She had a wide circle of relatives and friends and both in her own home and among all her acquaintances was loved and respected. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by three children: Price, on the home farm; Gustie, Mrs. L. G. Morris, Delafield, Wis.; and Rollie at Florence, Oregon. She leaves also two sisters, Mrs. George Miller, Washington; and Mrs. Henry Pietenpol, Granton; and ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Windfall church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker of Neillsville officiating.

The pallbearers were Harland Kintzele, Wendell Crothers, Floyd Pietenpol, Arthur Berg, Leslie Yorkston and Neil Kidd.
