Miss Vinnie I. Jones, a resident of Columbia, N. J. the past two years died at the Portland Hospital on Sunday January 7th, 1934 at 8 p.m. from burns suffered on Wednesday of last week, aged 67 years.

Miss Jones, who lived alone in a bungalow at Columbia, N. J., was found lying on the floor in the kitchen of her home about 4 p.m. on Wednesday of last week. She was terribly burned about her face and body and was removed to the Portland Hospital. Form the fact that Miss Jones still had on her night clothing, it is supposed he had gotten up that morning and after lighting an oil heater had suffered a fainting spell and fell on the stove. She had succeeded in putting out the fire, presumably by rolling on the floor, sustaining such severe burns that she was rendered helpless and it was not until late in the afternoon that she was missed and her brother, J. Earl Jones, was notified. He hastened to the home of his sister accompanied by O. H. Smith and George Egbert. They found Miss Jones lying helpless on the floor. She was conscious and replied when her brother spoken to her, but was unable to give a very clear account of how she came to be burned so badly.

Miss Jones in her early life resided in Neillsville, Wis., where she taught in the public schools. In 1899 she went Newark where she taught at the Coleman Business College. She was also a bookkeeper for the Eck Dinamo Motor Co., Newark, and later bookkeeper for the whole sale house of Cross-Hermanos, Ltd., of New York City, for a number of years.

She maintained her membership in the Neillsville. M. E. Church and while residing at Columbia attended the M.E. Church there. She was a charter member of Carmi Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of Neillsville. Besides the brother mentioned above, she is survived by a brother, Thomas Jones, of Detroit.

Funeral services were held at the home of her brother in Columbia on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., in charge of Rev. Robert Bowering and interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Newark. --- Portland (Pa.) Enterprise.
