Kuehl, Victor (7 July 1922 – 15 Feb. 2004)

Victor Kuehl, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at the Dunn Health Care Center in Menomonie. Victor, son of Hugo and Harriet (Kile) Kuehl, was born July 7, 1922, in Thorp, the oldest of six children.

He married Fern Shoemaker on Oct. 26, 1942, in Stanley. To this union five children where born, four of which survive him: Theodore (Sue) Kuehl of Fall Creek, Ione (Henry) Niehoff of Stone Lake, Vilas (Nola) Kuehl, Louise Von Haden and Eda Mae (Ray) Potter, all of Eau Claire.

Vic farmed in Butler Township, Clark County, moving to Eau Claire in 1959, at which time he drove for Little Audrey Trucking of Nebraska. He had also driven for Randall Livestock, and worked as a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1968, due to ill health.

On December 27, 1966, he married Carol Jones Madsen at Watertown, S.D. To this family, one son was born to Victor (Karen) Kuehl Jr. of Menomonie. The couple lived in Augusta, Elk Mound and California, before moving to Colfax in 1978. Since December 2002, he had been a resident at the center. Vic enjoyed traveling, fishing and working with wood. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is also survived by his wife, Carol of Boyceville; stepchildren, Gloria Everts (Earl Stuart) of Boyceville, John (Delores) Madsen of Reedsburg, Joann (Peter) Kurth of Great Bend, Kan., Bruce Madsen (Shirley Hagland) of Menomonie, Arlyn Madsen (Amy Hahn) of Eau Claire; siblings, Wallace (Vera) Kuehl of Finland, Minn., Bernard (Jean) Kuehl of Grants Pass, Ore., and Ruth (Leland) Cornwell of Ripon; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ivan; sister, Esther Myring; brother, James; and granddaughter, Doreen Kuehl.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with spring burial in the Butler Cemetery.

Friends may call two hours before services at the funeral home on Saturday.
