Surname: Moen, Haugen, Branden, Vas-Dalen, Johnson, Aaberg, Counsell, Wildish Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 2 Aug. 1934 Moen, Chris (25 July 1869 – 25 July 1934) Chris Moen was born in Gulbrans-Dalen, Norway, July 25, 1869. He came to this country 41 years ago. In 1894 he was married in Miss Ronnog Haugen and made their home on a farm near Rushford, Minn. In 1898 he moved to Neillsville, purchased a wild forty, now the present home place, and developed in into a modern farm. He is survived by the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Branden and Mrs. Mary Vas-Dalen of Gulbrans-Dalen, Norway, and two brothers, Resmis and Tom of the same place. He also leaves five children: John and George of Neillsville; Carl of Fargo, N. D.; Hilda, Mrs. Charley Johnson of Chicago, and Cornel somewhere in the south. Also eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He has been a faithful member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church for more than thirty years. He passed away at the Neillsville Hospital, July 25, his birthday anniversary, after much suffering and a lengthy illness. The funeral was held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church Saturday, Rev. Aaberg of Greenwood officiating. The pallbearers were the sons John, Carl and George Moen, Chas. Johnson a son-in-law, and two grandsons, Herman and Raymond Moen. The flowers girls were grandchildren: Jean, Alice and Beverly Moen, Ardyth Counsell and Marian Wildish.
