Mohr, Alexander (31 DEC 1856 – 16 NOV 1889)

Died, at is residence in this village (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Saturday, the 16th inst., of Diabetes Mellitus, Alexander Mohr, aged nearly 33 years.

Alex Mohr was born at Kiel, Wis., Dec. 31, 1856, consequently would have been 33 years old if he had lived until the 31st of Dec., next. He learned telegraphy and railroad business at Kiel, afterward taking the agency at that Station and has since occupied the same position at Spencer, Unity, Westboro, Colby and later at Bessemer, Mich., and was one of the best agents in the employ of the W. C. Co.

He was united in marriage with Miss Sophie Bredemeyer at this place, Aug. 21st, 1881, he being, at that time agent at Unity. Two children have blessed this union, a son and daughter, all of whom remain to mourn his early demise.

Alex was appointed agent at this place in June 1882, to succeed Frank Dille, that position he held until June 12th, 1888, when the Central Co. transferred him to Bessemer, where they needed a first-class agent. That place he held until Sept. last, he took a vacation on account of failing health, and came to this place with his family. Notwithstanding everything possible was done to stay the progress of the disease, he slowly succumbed to its influence until the final end was reached last Saturday evening.

The remains were taken to New Holstein for interment, Monday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Mohr and her brother and sister, Fred and Mary Bredemeyer.

Alex was a thorough businessman and fully understood all the intricacies of running a railroad station, he was well liked by all who knew him, and the sorrowing widow and two fatherless children have the deepest and most sincere sympathy of the entire community.
