Beaver, Peter (23 Nov 1895 – 28 JUN 1932)

Peter Beaver, age 36, a son of John and Mary Beaver (both deceased) was born Nov. 23, 1895, in Pelsdorf, 3 miles south of the Village of Loyal. He spent his childhood years and grew to manhood in Pelsdorf his home being what is now known as the Beaver Homestead. Peter attended the Mack Public School in this village.

On October 20, 1926, he was united in Holy Wedlock with Miss Katherine Hafenbreadl of Auburndale. To this union was born 3 children, Jane, Rosella, and Peter, who survive him.

On Oct. 5, 1931 his beloved wife passed into the Great Beyond, leaving her mourning husband and their little ones, Peter Jr., being only a few days old.

About seven years ago the deceased, with his brother Bernard, rented an 80 acre farm in the Town of Beaver, seven miles north of Loyal. After his marriage he purchased the farm and he with his helpmate lived there continuously, working hard clearing additional land, built a barn, made other improvements, and strove to establish a good farm home for themselves and their family. Hopes and plans were shattered however, when the happy family was separated by the death of the mother, which followed a brief illness.

Peter was a World War Veteran, having served overseas. Ill health, believed to have been a result of the war, coupled with his grieving over the untimely death of his beloved wife brought on despondency and during the forenoon of Tuesday, June 28, he took his own life.

Four sisters and nine brothers survive him, besides his three children. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank Bauer and Mrs. Joe Wedl live in the Village of Loyal; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Duvall lives in Marshfield; another sister, Mrs. Peter Schmitz in Compton, California. His surviving brothers with the exception of one live in Loyal and vicinity are Mike, Nick, William, Frank, Edward, Philip, Bernard and Matt. Another brother, George, lives in Granton. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in St. Anthony’s Church, Friday, July 1st, at 9 a.m., the Rev. Father A. J. Aurit officiating. He was given a Military Funeral, conducted by the American Legion, Loyal Post 175. Interment took place at Auburndale, the Rev. Father Steinhauser officiating at the Cemetery. Members of the American Legion acted as pallbearers.
