PITTSVILLE - Elmer Edwin Grobe, 51, of 9896 County Trunk CC, Pittsville, died Thursday at his home. He had been in ill health the past five years.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville.

He was born Aug 8, 1933 in Chili, a son of Edwin and Adelia Grobe. He received his education in Chili schools and graduated in 1951 from Marshfield Senior High School.

He and Janice Kohl were married May 24, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville.

As a young man he entered the construction business with his father. When his father retired, he continued to operate Grobe Construction Co., building homes and doing commercial work in the central Wisconsin area. He retired in 1979 because of his health.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a past deacon. He also was a former member of the Chili Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his father, who resides in Arpin; his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Debra Ann Buchanan-Grobe of Albany, NY, and Mrs. David (Susan Carol) Rogers of Onalaska; a son, Michael Elmer Grobe of Chili; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Verna) Roehl of Chili and Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Koepke of Marshfield; and two brothers, Louis Grobe of Three Lakes and Edward Grobe of Mason, Mich.

He was predeceased by his mother and one sister.
