Buttke, Annetta (Marriage - ?)

Bouquets of mixed flowers decorated the altar of the Marshfield Church of Christ on Saturday afternoon for the marriage of Miss Annetta Buttke and Duane Lange, who is currently on furlough from military duty in the Hawaiian Islands. Parents of the principals are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Buttke of Alma Center and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lange of Owen.

Vocal selections during the double-ring ceremony, which was performed by Harry Lowry, pastor of the local and Merrillan congregations were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawrence of Madison. Their selections were entitled “Oh, Promise Me” and “Because.”

A sweetheart neckline detailed the fitted bodice of the white rose point lace and tulle over satin gown donned by the bride. Her veil was finger-tip length.

A stole was worn with the strapless pastel green formal selected by Miss Alyce Bredeson, Rochester, Minn., in her role as maid of honor for her former schoolmate. Her escort was a brother of the groom, Julius Lange Jr., of Owen as best man. Ushers included Roger Lebakken, Galesville, and John Buttke, Alma Center.

Completing the wedding party were Betty Haydon, Alma Center, as flower girl and Frankie Wilber of Trempealeau as ring bearer. The former was attired in a white floor-length frock.

White corsages accented the blue ensembles worn by the mothers of the bridal couple.

A three-tiered wedding cake made by Mrs. Odell Lebakken, an aunt of the bride’s living in Galesville, centered the table at the reception where the newlyweds greeted guests.

The bride approached the altar unescorted, her father being confined for the past several weeks as a patient in Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison. A tape recording was made of the day’s festivities and will be sent to him.

After a brief honeymoon, the couple will leave on April 15 for the Hawaiian Islands, where they will make their home in Honolulu for the ensuing year while the groom completes his military service. The new Mrs. Lange plans to continue her clerical work in Honolulu, having had similar employment, with the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Madison before her marriage.
