Surnames: BEARDSLEY USTICK PARKER EILERT NEVERMAN HUNTLEY Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 04/15/1920 Beardsley, George (30 APR 1841 – 10 APR 1920) George Beardsley, one of the old residents of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died at his home April 10th, 1920, after a brief illness. Mr. Beardsley was born at Bokersfield, Vt., April 30th, 1841. He came to Wisconsin when eight years old with his parents. In 1861 he enlisted in the Fourth Wis. Cavalry, and served through the war, 14 months of the time being spent in Southern prisons. He was married to Evelyn Priscilla Ustick at Tomah, Wis., Nov. 30th, 1865. They came to Clark County, Wis. in 1882 and settled on a farm four miles west of Neillsville, living there till 1886, when they moved to the city. For many years Mr. Beardsley followed well drilling, at which he became an expert. He also was an excellent steam engineer and was employed in mills. Deceased was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and of the local G.A.R. Post. He was a patriotic citizen, and during his long life was a staunch supporter of good government. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Mrs. Ida Parker of Deer River, Minn.; A.J. Beardsley of Everett, Wash.; Mrs. May Eilert of Fresno, Cal., Mrs. Carrie Neverman, Neillsville; Miss Delia Beardsley of Chicago, Mrs. Mert Huntley, Neillsville, Otis Beardsley, Niagara, Wis. One daughter, Tina, is deceased. He leaves also 9 grandchildren. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Tuesday, Rev. L.B. Colman officiating. The Masonic Lodge taking part in the ceremonies. The active pallbearers were young soldiers from the Masonic Lodge, the honorary pallbearers being old soldiers of the G.A.R. Those from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Beardsley, Mrs. May Eilert, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Beardsley, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Parker, Miss Delia Beardsley and Jasper Beardsley, a brother from Tomah. |
