Dietz, Florence H. (18 FEB 1906 – 5 OCT 2002)

Florence Dietz, 96, Mount Carroll, Ill., died on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at her daughter’s home in Chadwick, Ill. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. The Rev. Lisl Heymans of Mount Carroll United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll.

Florence Henrietta Herdrich was born on Feb. 18, 1906, in Loyal, Clark County, Wis., to Charles and Mathilda (nee Paetow) Herdrich. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1922, and from the Eau Claire Normal College in 1925. She married Victor Vincent Grover Dietz on Sept. 30, 1935, in Chicago. She was an instructor at American School, Chicago, for 16 years, and then worked in the Savanna Army Depot comptroller’s office for 20 years. She retired in 1971. She was a member of Mount Carroll United Methodist Church for more than 51 years and was active in its women’s circle and prayer chain. Her interests included music and the arts.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Dietz-Appel, Chadwick, Ill., and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Victor, on Jan. 19, 1975; three sisters, Norma Irene Herdrich in infancy, Erma Uhrig and Gladys Rowley; and one brother, Everett Herdrich.

Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll, assisted the family with arrangements.
