Oldham, Charles P. (2 April 1913 – 27 June 1979)

A Neillsville area native, Charles P. Oldham, age 66, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital shortly before noon, Wednesday, June 27. A heart attack was the believed cause.

Oldham was born on April 2, 1913 in the Town of Pine Valley to William A. and Emma (Boll) Oldham. After receiving his education, he worked at various jobs and then was married to Margaret Dormady on November 17, 1931. After his marriage, Oldham was employed by WPA and then farmed for several years in the town of Seif. His other employment included stints at H.H. Van Gorden and Sons, the city of Neillsville’s Water Department, Glen Carlson Lumber Company in Augusta and Nelson Filter at Neillsville. He also did carpentry and produced wooden pallets on a self-employed basis prior to his death.

Oldham is survived by his wife, Margaret; nine sons, Walter “Bunny”, Marvin, Wayne and Frank of Neillsville, Gordon of Greenwood, Dick and Kenneth of Stoughton, and Ronald and Donald of Granton; five daughters, Mrs. Jack (June) Kluckhohn and Mrs. William (Bonnie) Mitte of Neillsville, Mrs. Lyle (Amanda) Wampole of Thorp, Mrs. Edgar (Betty) Ott of Ripon, and Mrs. Jeff (Donna) Siltala of Iron Mountain, Michigan; 58 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; one sister; Mrs. Raymond (Genevieve) Kalsow of Neillsville, and three brothers, William of Fairchild, Lafayette of Helena, Ohio, and Ray of Neillsville.

Preceding him in death were one brother, four sisters and four grandchildren.

Services were held at the Gesche Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, with the Rev. William Noble of the Neillsville United Methodist Church officiating, with burial following at the Neillsville City Cemetery.
