Alexander, Ernest (9 May 1879 – 1 April 1956)

At two o’clock yesterday afternoon Wednesday, April 4th, funeral services for Ernest Alexander were conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph W. Claybaugh, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Owen, officiated. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Ed Awe, Uno Kolpanen, Mike Kovatch, Charles Witte, LaVerne Lentz and Elmer Elstrom. Ernest Alexander was born may 9, 1879, in Cassville Township, Grant County, and died at the nursing home in Owen, April 1st, at the age of 76.

He was the son of Charles and (Mary Ann Abrams) Alexander. On December 31, 1901, he was married to Birdenna Ball at the home of her parents. They farmed in the area of Patch Grove, Mt. Hope, and Bloomington until they moved to the vicinity of Owen in 1923 and continued farming until his death.

Surviving besides his wife are fives sons: Floyd, Richland Center; Cecil, Roscoe and Walter, Owen; Delos, Unity; two daughters, Leora, Mrs. Arthur Lange; Milwaukee; Esther, Mrs. Jay Millin, Fennimore; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Auld, Bloomington; and Mattie, Mrs. Jess Crawford, Withee. He also has 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two sons and a sister preceded him in death.

**Note in obituary it states that he was buried in the Riverside Cemetery. The Clark County Cemetery index shows he is buried with his wife at Greenwood City Cemetery. -- transcriber notes
