Thu, Jul 21, 2005 Drake, George T. (9 May 1915 – 20 July 2005) George T. Drake, age 90, Marshfield, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Three Oaks at Marshfield Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy Hoover will officiate. Paulette Reckner, Jeffrey and Hanna Riddle will provide special music. Burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Reckner, Vic Schultz, Gregory Crowell, Jeffrey Riddle, Phil Hiller and J.P. Riddle. Frank Jepsen and Floyd Schultz will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Drake was born May 9, 1915, in the town of York in Clark County the son of Walter and Sarah (Miles) Drake. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1934. On Dec. 23, 1935, George was united in marriage to the former Valda Truax. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Clark County until 1948 when they moved to Waukegan, Ill. Mr. Drake worked in construction until 1953 when he started his own concrete contracting business. He later sold that business and moved to Loyal where he and Valda operated the Gambles Store until 1966. Mr. Drake then worked for Hiller's Hardware in Marshfield and later Braatz's Gamble store in Neillsville until the time of his retirement. He is a former member of the Calvary Bible Church. Mr. Drake is lovingly survived by his wife Valda, Marshfield; sons, Ronald (Patricia) Drake, Marshfield, Michael (Katie) Drake, Lyons, Kan.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. * * * Source: Marshfield News Herald (Marshfield, Wood County, Wis.)
