August 17, 2005 Becherer, Alvina R. (4 March 1917 – 14 Aug. 2005) Alvina R Becherer, age 88, of Marshfield died on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Alvina was born to Frederick and Rosalie (Greenwood) Burhop on March 4, 1917 in Colby where she also attended elementary school. Alvina and Gustave Gollhardt, Sr. were married on Nov. 18, 1933. In their later years, they farmed until his retirement. He died on Oct. 11, 1979. She then married Willard Becherer on Nov. 1, 1986 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church of Granton where Alvina was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, sewing, cards and spending time, with family and her many friends. She is lovingly survived by her sons, Clarence (Deborah) Gollhardt, of Withee; Kenneth (Jeri) Gollhardt, of Arleta, CA; Gustave (Chris) Gollhardt, Jr., of Wausau; her daughters, Dorothy (Don) Sieber, of Hubertus; Caroline Bull, of Madison and Marle Banie, of Marshfield; 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and stepchildren. Alvina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gustave Sr.; one daughter, Esther Vetterkind; one granddaughter, Dawn Bull; two grandsons, Dewayne Gollhardt and Larry Becker; one sister, Lydia Alexander; half sister, Hattie Krause; three brothers, Louie Burhop, Henry and Albert Sieber. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thurs. Aug. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton with Rev. John Trewyn officiating. Burial will be in the East Thorp Cemetery in Thorp. Caroline Helm will be the organist along with Margaret Grottke as the vocalist. Pallbearers will be Bob, Tim and Brian Gollhardt, Dan Banie, Greg Sieber and David Becker. Visitations will be 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wed. at the Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and again on Thurs. at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the services.
