The surgical operation on J. W. Chamberlain's optics, mentioned last week, will be performed by a St. Paul physician at this place next week.

The York Iron Company is treating the village to dense volumes of smoke every evening, the wind happening to be from the east the past few days.

The ladies of the W. R. C. will give an oyster supper Saturday evening Oct. 26th, at Sargent's hall. Ice cream will also be served. A cordial invitation is extended to all. Mary Phillips Sec.

Garrison Bros. have in stock an excellent brand of Mocha and Java coffee which, though costing a trifle more than the common article, is far ahead of anything in that line ever placed on the market in this village. Try a can.

This office is indebted to farmer J. B. Clark for a fine line of sample products from his farm consisting of potatoes of the Early Rose, American Blue, Beauty of Hebron and Empire State varieties. One acre of the Empire State yielded him the enormous quantity of 620 bushels and are a very nice looking potato, though rather large in size, many weighing over three pounds. J. B. also raised over 500 bushels of Mangelwurzels and 400 bushels of rutabagas.

During the month of September A. A. Barr manufactored and sold eighty-six pounds of butter from the milk of his two Jerseys and one scrub cow. Aside from the above product his family of six used considerable butter and milk at home and also sold four quarts of milk daily. Who says it does not pay to keep a good breed of cows?
