Ladies of this city whose husbands are often out late to the lodge are about to adopt a new password by which said husbands can gain admission on their return. If they can repeat the words, "Six slim slick sapplings" distinctly, the inside guard will admit them, but if they cannot they will be allowed to stay out all night or until they can rattle off the passwords. Ex.

The G.A.R. Post has bills out for a dance to be held at Sargent's hall on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31st. Ticket, including supper at the Douglas House, $1.50. Prof. Fournier's string band of Chippewa Falls, has been engaged to furnish the music.

I will sell excursion tickets at a rate of one and one-third fare for the round trip to points within 200 miles of this place, Dec. 24, 25, 31st, '89, and Jan 1st 1890, making them good to return until January 3d, 1890.

Milton Pickett, one of the sub editors of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, who perished in the Minneapolis Tribune fire about two weeks since, was a first cousin of Mrs. John H. Henderson, of this village.
