Ayer, Elaine J. (Marriage – 22 June ?)

Miss Elaine J. Ayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ayer, Spencer, route 1, became the bride of Owen Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hanson, Colby, route 2, in a wedding ceremony read June 22, at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Otto Hoffman in Zion Lutheran Church in Colby.

The bride wore a white taffeta dress designed with an entrained net overskirt and carried red roses and swansonia tied with white satin ribbons. Her finger-tip veil of illusion was caught to a tiara of pearl sized orange blossoms and she held the same handkerchief her mother carried on her wedding day.

Elaine Johnson, of Unity, as maid of honor, was attired in a princess-styled frock of frothy white marquisette trimmed with velvet bows. The groom’s sister, Darlene Hanson, in white net over satin, was bridesmaid. Matching blusher veils completed their costumes and they carried red roses, sweet peas and swansonia.

Eldor Hanson, Colby, the groom’s brother, and Eugene Zeuske, his cousin, attended the groom.

Both Mrs. Ayer and Mrs. Hanson wore black ensembles trimmed with white and had corsages of red roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Hanson have now returned from Canada and northern Wisconsin where they spent their honeymoon. For traveling the bride wore a cocoa-brown suit and matching accessories.

Following the wedding ceremony a reception was held at 7:30 p.m. at the home of the bride’s parents for 30 guests. White streamers and wedding bells canopied the ceiling and the table was centered with a wedding cake flanked with candles.

Mrs. Hanson was graduated from the Unity High School with the class of 1946. Her husband, who is employed as a cheese maker at the Welcome Diary in the Town of Hull, was granted a discharge from Army service in December, 1945, after 3 ½ years of service, three years of which time were spent in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

A wedding dance was held at Walter’s Pavilion.
