Surnames: Oldham, Gurney, Kauffman, Ewers, Hass, Hackel, Bielefeld, Roberts, Hoskins

Lucille “Sis” Oldham, age 64, of Neillsville, WI died Monday Jan.2, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, WI.

Lucille Patricia Oldham was born on June 10, 1941 in Colby Township, Clark County WI, the daughter of William and Elma (Kauffman) Gurney. As a young girl, her family moved on to the Charles Galetka farm at Neillsville and “Sis” attended Neillsville Public Schools. After finishing her schooling, she was united in marriage to Wayne Dale “Bill” Oldham in Milwaukee, WI. They moved back to Neillsville after their marriage and “Sis” began raising their family. Besides raising her family “Sis” also worked at local restaurants as a waitress and cook. She also worked for Kurt Marg as a cook. She also worked at Nelson Filter, the Foundry, the dime store and Bob & Caryl’s IGA store. She worked as a hostess at the Casino in Black River Falls, and most recently she worked in housekeeping at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville. On top of all that she also found time to baby-sit for family and friends.

When “Sis” wasn’t working she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She made thousands of items, which include quilts, doilies and dolls that are now spread throughout the United States and even overseas. She also enjoyed gardening and card playing and going with her husband “up north” bear hunting, but what was most important to her was her family, whom she loved and cared for very much.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne “Bill” Oldham; two sons, Ronald (Linda) Gurney of Neillsville and Kevin (Denet) Oldham of Greenwood; three daughters, Sandy (Dave) Ewers, Lime Ridge, Pam Hass (Kenneth Hackel) of Colby, and Sue (Tom) Bielefeld of Hixton; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, with one on the way; her mother, Elma Gurney of Neillsville, five brothers, Charles (Laura) Gurney of Florida, Louis (Dianne) Gurney, Gene (Sue) Gurney, Bill Gurney and Galen (Janet) Gurney all of Neillsville; two sisters, Barb (Steve) Roberts of Neillsville and Nancy (Art) Hoskins of Port Washington.

Preceding “Sis” in death was her father, William Gurney; a grandson, Adam Oldham; a brother, Jerry Gurney and other relatives.

Funeral Services for Lucille “Sis” will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Music will be provided by Kendall Brewer. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday and from 10 until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
