Collier, Carrie (2 DEC 1903)

On Wednesday evening at 5 o’clock, a very pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Collier, when their daughter, Miss Carried, and Mr. Roland Johnston were married by Rev. W.M. Philpott of the M.E. Church.

The house was tastefully decorated with smilax and carnations. The young couple was unattended and the ceremony was performed in the presence of only their immediate relatives. The ceremony was followed by a dinner and the tables were also prettily trimmed with smilax and carnations.

The bride is one of our most esteemed young ladies. This (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.) has been her home since her birth, and for several years she has been a teacher in our public schools. She is too well and favorably known to need any introduction to her many friends, both here and abroad. Mr. Johnston’s home is at Stanley, Wis., but for the past three years he has lived in our midst serving as assistant cashier in the bank, and through his kindly courteous ways has won a large circle of friends. Together, these young people have the kindliest interest and best wishes of the whole community.

The gifts were numerous and elaborate, consisting of beautiful pieces of cut glass, silver, china and linen. Among them was a check for a very handsome sum, which was present by Mr. Wm. Johnston, father of the groom, and a handsome silver cake basket presented by the bank.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnston, and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Story of Stanley, parents and cousins of the groom, Mr. Harry Collier of Abbotsford, brother of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie Andrews, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Healy, Unity.
