(5 June 1917 – 9 Jan. 2006) George H Campbell, age 88, of Eula, TX, formerly of Neillsville, died Monday January 9, 2006 at the Lamun-Lusk Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, TX. George Harvey Campbell was born on June 5, 1917 in Clark County, the son of Ernest and Helen (Wilson) Campbell. He attended Uncle Sam School, and then enlisted into the United States Army on October 15, 1940. George served in WWII in New Guinea, Papuan and Southern Philippines. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1945. Upon returning home he worked for the City of Neillsville for many years before retiring in 1981. George was a live-long member of the Wilson-Heintz VFW Post #2241 and the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville. He had many hobbies, but he especially enjoyed truck driving. He is survived by a brother Edward Campbell of Eula, TX; and a sister, Florence Anderegg, of Randolph and several nieces and nephews. Preceding George in death were his parents and a brother, Gordon. Graveside services for George were held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Military Rites were accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
