Locals

Mr. and Mrs. John Thiemann, the parents of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Murphy left today for their home at Baraboo after a few days’ visit there. Other guests in the Murphy home are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Monaghen and Mr. and Mrs. M. Constantin of Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. A. White, and son, James, of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Melrose and daughter, Mary Lou, of Rock Falls, Mrs. Ellen Holmes of Colfax and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Robinson of Cleghorn, Wis., were Sunday guests in the home of Mrs. Amelia Kapke.

Four young men, students of Taylor University at Upland, Indiana, had charge of the services at the M. E. Church Sunday. They are touring the state during the summer months, giving concerts and conducting services. Their presentation at the local church was greatly enjoyed by the congregation.

Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Rude and family returned home to Chicago Sunday after a week’s visit in the home of his brother, Register of Deeds Geo. Rude, and family. Mrs. Emma Rude who spent several weeks here, accompanied them home. On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. George Hubing entertained the Rudes and their guests at dinner.

County Agent W. J. Landry and several others attended “Station Day” at the Wisconsin Experiment Station at Marshfield Tuesday. There was interesting demonstrations of experiments that have been worked out at this station and a fine program consisting of talent from the various counties. Lowell, Huckstead gave an oration.

Miss Hazel Lee and Mrs. E. W. Crosby returned last week from a five weeks motor trip through the east where they visited relatives and friends and scenic and historic points of interest, including New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D. C., Mrs. Crosby states that the “Best scenery is nearest home,” and that Chicago with its lake front skyline is the prettiest city they saw on the entire journey.

Harold Friend, wife and baby of Sparta have moved to Neillsville and will occupy an apartment in the home of Mrs. Ada Weast. Mr. Friend is a funeral director and embalmer and will be employed here by the Schiller undertaking, who has worked for Mr. Schiller for several months left for Owen to visit for a time with his daughter at the home of M. H. Duncan.
