Grambort, Dorothea S. (15 OCT 1930 – 10 JUL 1909)

Mrs. Fred Grambort, Sr. died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Roth, in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday morning, July 10th, 1909, of old age and general debility, in the 79th year of her age.

Dorothea Sophia Lulloff was born at Klasshagen, Germany, Oct. 15, 1830. She came with her parents to Sheboygan County. In 1851 she was united in marriage to Frederick Grambort and in 1876, with her husband, came to Colby, and settled on a farm near Green Grove, Clark Co. She resided on the farm until after the death of her husband, about fourteen eyars ago. When the farm was sold eight years ago, she moved into the city and has remained here ever since.

Mrs. Grambort has been in poor health for some years back, and about five and one half years ago, she was stricken blind. Since that time she has been quite feeble. On Tuesday previous to her death, she went to sleep and remained in that condition, passing out of this life without a pain or a struggle.

Mrs. Grambort, with her husband, came to Colby when all was a wilderness. They passed through many a hardship, as most of the old settlers did, that came about that time. They worked with a will, and as a result of their labors they had one of the finest farms in the town of Colby. She leaves one son, Fred, of this city, and five daughters, Mesdames August Lulloff and Fred Roth of this city, Mrs. Gustav Bahn of Longwood, and Mesdames Geo. And Ed Pruessner of Chicago. Besides these there are twenty-six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, to mourn her loss.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon, from St. John’s Evangelical Church, Rev. J. Bizer officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Green Grove Cemetery, beside those of her husband.
