Braun, Alois J. (26 MAY 1877 – 30 AUG 1935)

Alois Joseph Braun, 58, passed away at his home in the Village at 1:30 P. M., on Friday, August 30th after a lingering illness.

The deceased, born in Jefferson, Wisconsin, on May 26th, 1877, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Braun, his father preceding him in death by 16 years. When about six years of age he came to Loyal and has been a resident of this Village since that time.

On Nov. 25, 1903, he was united in marriage at Loyal to Mary Berens. To this union were born two sons, Roman and Herbert and three daughters, Gertrude, Clare and Dorothy, all at home.

In 1917 the deceased purchased the Ford Garage of B. Christman and in 1924 an agency was established at Greenwood and Geo. Speich of Greenwood was taken in as a partner. Both sons have been associated with their father in the garage here for sometime. He also served on the Village Board for a number of years.

The deceased was a fine man, held in high esteem by all who knew him, and his many friends join with his family in mourning his loss.

Surviving are his mother Mrs. Gertrude Braun of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, Linus and Edward Braun of Minneapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Ruplinger, San Diego, California; Mrs. H. E. McCaughey, Los Angeles, California and Sister M. Claudine, Carroll, Iowa.

Funeral services were held from St. Anthony’s Church at 9:00 A. M., on Monday September 2nd, with interment in the parish cemetery, Rev. A. J. Aurit officiating.

Those who acted as pall bearers were John Hubing, John Weyer, Dan Vandehey, C. B. Esselmann, J. J. Schuld, and Joe Davel, all members of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin Branch, No. 234 of which the deceased was a member.

Honorary pall bearers were Geo. Speich, John Geiger, Otto Weyhmiller, Geo. Weyhmiller, Albert Davel and Joe Bertz, Sr.

Relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. Joe Brownlee, Mr. and Mrs. Linus Braun, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Braun and daughters of Minneapolis; Miss Elizabeth Braun, Miss Mary Vogel, Mr. Wilhelm Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vogel, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Beaver, Mrs. Joe Ambrose, Mrs. Edmond Herdy, Mrs. Ed. Hennen and son, Mr. Frank Frodl of Jefferson, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Nick Berens, Mrs. Matt Berens, Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Squires of Cashton, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Berens, Mr. Robert Berens of Marathon City; Mr. and Mrs. John Vogel of Madison; Mr. Al Mueller, Mr. Oscar Hartwig of Chicago; Mrs. Donald Chesebro, Mrs. Morrow Chesebro of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Sala and son Carl of Marshfield.
