Baldeschwiler, Mr./Mrs. Alois (Gold - JUN 1934)

(Stanley Republican)

Seventy guests were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baldeschwiler, west of the city (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), on Sunday, in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alois Baldeschwiler. The rooms and tables were tastily decorated with yellow flowers and candles and a large wedding cake trimmed with white flowers and gold leaves formed the center piece for the table. A brief program was given. Mrs. D.S. Neaonan of Minneapolis, sang a solo. Miss Eileen Baldeschwiler gave a piano solo and Rev. A.J. Mueller gave a solo. Mr. and Mrs. Baldeschwiler were presented with a purse of money and several other gifts in memory of the event.

One pleasing feature of the occasion was the arrival of their son, William, from California. He came in a plane to Chicago and motored from there.

Mr. and Mrs. Baldeschwiler were married in Germany in June 1884 and came to America about ten years later. About thirty-five years ago they came to the Stanley Country. Mr. Baldeschwiler has been engaged in the sawmill business for many years. They have lived in this city for the past eighteen years.

Nine children were born to them, six of whom are living: William of Modesto, California; Charles and Fred of Thorp; Martin of Jim Falls, and Joseph and John of Stanley. They also have sixteen grandchildren.

The following guests from out of town were present: William Baldeschwiler of Modesto, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weix and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Oberle of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Baldeschwiler, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Henke and daughter Vera, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meyer, Emil Henke, John Meyer of Thorp; Mrs. D.S. Neaonan, daughter Betty, and son, Richard, and Mrs. Arthur Engebretson and son Junior, of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Baldeschwiler and family of Jim Falls.
