Krumrey, Anna Gertrude (19 Feb. 1866 – 14 July 1936)

Anna Gertrude Krumrey was born to Joseph and Clara Schmitz in Fond du Lac County, Town of Marshfield, on February 19, 1866. She received her early education there.

She came to Neillsville in 1889 and on November 26 of the same years, she married George Dangers. During the interval between her first husband’s death on November 29, 1890, and her second marriage, she was engaged in the millinery business in Neillsville.

She married Conrad Krumrey, a well known business man of this community on February 8, 1898. Until the time of her death on July 14, 1936, the Krumrey residence on Court and 5th Street has been her home.

During that time, she formed many lasting friendships. None could question her locality. Many have enjoyed the hospitality of her well ordered home. Many have admired her unusual talents and her discriminating taste in the arts, particularly music.

She was the oldest of ten children and was the first to follow her father and mother in death. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her death three brothers, Michael (Schmitz) of St. Cloud, Wisconsin; Peter (Schmitz) of Marytown and Anton (Schimtz) of Glenbeulah, also six sisters, Mrs. Mary Rollinger of Chandler, Oklahoma; Mrs. Katherine Pieper and Mrs. Caroline Jackson of Milwaukee; Mrs. Emma Hau of St. Cloud; Mrs. Julia Helf and Mrs. Louise Koop of Cillette and an aunt, Mrs. Jacob Schiller of this city.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Michael Schmitz, E. J. Schmitz, and Mrs. Chris. Hau of St. Cloud; Peter J. Schmitz of Marytown; A. K. Schmitz, of Glenbeulah; Mrs. L. H. Pieper, Mrs. Ralph Pieper and daughter Virginia, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. George Jackson and their sons Robert and Clifford and daughter Mary Lucille, Milwaukee; Mrs. Jake Helf and Mrs. Ed. Koop, Gillette; Carl Krumrey, Elkart Lake; Elizabeth Wittkopp, Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Albrecht and daughter Helen, Waunakee; Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Albecht and Mrs. P. H. Anderes, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Klopf, Madison. The funeral was held Friday morning.

Services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville Cemetery.
