Arndt, Betty V. (September 22, 1918 - December 13, 2005)

Betty Arndt, age 87, of LaCrosse, formerly of Neillsville, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the LaCrescent health Care Center in LaCrescent, MN.

Betty Virginia Arndt was born September 22, 1918 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Roy and Minnie Wilson. She was united in marriage to Robert Janke and they owned and operated a tavern called the Old Mill in Okauchee, WI. Robert died and Betty remarried Elmer Gormanson. They lived in Stone Bank, WI. Betty worked for 20 years at Heartland Plastics in Heartland, WI. They later moved to Neillsville. After Elmer’s death Betty was remarried to Clyde Arndt. They were married 15 years before Clyde died in 2004. Betty continued living in Neillsville until May of 2005 when she moved to LaCrosse to be near her daughter.

Betty was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She was also a member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73 Auxillary in Neillsville. Her pastimes included crocheting and reading.

She is survived by one son, Bill Janke of Pewaukee; one daughter, Barb (Ivan) Lutz of Hokah, MN; two step-sons, Gene (Mary) Gormanson and Keith (Nancy) Gormanson, both of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Janke, Elmer Gormanson and Clyde Arndt; one sister and one brother.

Funeral Services for Betty were held Monday, December 19, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert officiated. Interment was in the West Weston Cemetery.

Casket bearers were: Ivan Lutz, Bill Janke, Gene and Keith Gormanson, Kerry Landers and Pete Purvis.

Gesche Funeral Home assisted Betty’s family with funeral arrangements.
