--------- Bentzler, Matt & Elizabeth (Gold-23 OCT 1933)

Mr. and Mrs. Matt Bentzler, whose fiftieth wedding anniversary falls on October 23, observed the occasion at their home here on Monday and Tuesday, July 3rd and 4th as their ten children and their families met at their home in a July Fourth reunion.

A wedding supper was served on Monday afternoon, with the ten children and their families present, and on Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Bentzler with their children and families, attended high mass and took communion in a body at St. Anthony’s church here.

The Bentzler home was beautifully decorated for the occasion yellow predominating in the color scheme and a large wedding cake, made by Mrs. Leo Theisen, adorning the table.

Mr. Bentzler was born at Theresa, Dodge county, on March 6, 1856, and Mrs. Bentzler, nee Elizabeth Doll, was born at St. Lawrence, Wis. on October 23, 1865. They were married on her birthday at St. Lawrence in 1883, and came to Clark county in 1912, locating on a farm near Loyal, where they lived until moving into the village a few years ago.

They were the parents on thirteen children, ten of whom are living and attended the reunion here. They are: Pauline, Mrs. Ed. Wenzell, Hartford; George and Christ, Loyal; Rose, Mrs. Fred Loos, De Pere; Mary, Sister Carmelita; and Lucy, Sister Carmela; and Laura, Sister Rose Carmel; all of the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc; Matthew of Loyal; Peter, South Bend, Ind., and John from Mishawaka, Ind. There are 12 grandchildren.

The fact that all of the children were able to visit them at this time prompted Mr. and Mrs. Bentzler to observe their anniversary now instead of in October.
