Abbott, Maud (31 March 1896 – 13 Feb. 1937)

Maud Pierce was born at Humbird, Wis., March 31, 1896, the daughter of Austin and Eliza Buckley Pierce, and passed away at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield, Wis., Sat., Feb. 13, 1937, aged 40 years, 10 months and 13 days.

She was married to William Abbott at Martinez, Calif., Aug. 21, 1926. Two children were born to this union, William John, aged 10, and Frances Edith, aged eight. She also leaves one son, Arthur Longway, by a former marriage. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and three children, her aged father in La Crosse, six sisters, Mattie, Mrs. Ira Markham, Granton; Nellie, Mrs. Herman Monte; Jennie, Mrs. Ernest Phillips; Mamie, Mrs. Emil Klott; Elsie, Mrs. Alvin Hastings; Lottie, Mrs. Glen Martel and three brothers, Delbert, Roy and Mike Pierce, all of La Crosse.

Funeral services were held at the Lowe Funeral Home in Neillsville, Feb. 16, 1937. Three Latter Day Saints Missionary ministers of La Crosse preaching the sermon, John Abbott, father-in-law of the deceased giving the opening sermon. The brothers and sisters and her father and George Abbott and wife and Herman Abbott, Richard Abbott, and Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott, all of La Crosse and several other relatives attended the funeral. She was laid to rest by the side of her mother in Fairchild Cemetery.
