Ferguson, Alyce (Marriage – 30 May 1937)

Under the spreading maple tree on Sunday afternoon, May 30, at 3 o’clock, a very pretty wedding took place at John E. Ferguson home, when Alyce Ferguson became the bride of Richard W. Qualley. The wedding ceremony was begun by Miss Record of Eau Claire singing, “At Dawning” Elder Keiser of the Seventh Day Adventist church performed the ceremony. At closing, prayer in behalf of the two young people was offered and Miss Record again sang, “I Would Be True.”

The bride was beautifully attired in a white sharkskin suit. The groom wore a suit of dark blue. They were attended by Louis and Leonard Ferguson, sister and brother of the bride. Corsages of pink petunias and lace ferns were worn by the couple and their attendants. Little Patty Froelich and Forest Ferguson were flower children.

A wedding supper was served immediately following the ceremony to the parents and close friends of the bride and groom. Guests out of town were: Miss Lila Miller, Miss Jessie Record, Elder and Mrs. Keiser and son Orris and daughter, Nena, all of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gard of Neillsville. The table was attractively decorated with white and gold crepe paper streamers.

In the evening a shower was held in honor of the couple. Many lovely gifts were received.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Ferguson of the town of Washburn. She attended the Neillsville High School and graduated from the Teacher’s Training Department in 1930. She has been a very successful teacher, teaching six years in the public schools of Clark County and the past year teaching church school at Eau Claire. She is a young lady of high character and likable traits, readily making friends wherever she goes.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Qualley, also of the town of Washburn. He is an active, enterprising young man, has good habits, and is highly respected by all who know him.

Their many friends offer them congratulations and wish them success and happiness.
