Jacklin, Stella (Marriage – 1937)

Sunset Point, the picturesque site of the Congregational parsonage, overlooking Black River, Saturday was the scene of the wedding of Miss Stella Jacklin and Herbert L. Asplin, both of the town of Weston, Rev. G. W. Longenecker performing the double ring ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Jacklin and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Asplin, parents of the bride and the groom, were present. The attendants were Craig Asplin and Miss Emily Jacklin.

The bride was attired in a very attractive white crepe suit and white accessories and wore a corsage of bouquet of pink roses and white sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a sharkskin unit and white accessories and a corsage bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas.

The marriage of Miss Stella L. Jacklin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Jacklin of the town of Weston, to Herbert L. Asplin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Asplin of the town of Weston, took place at 2 p.m., June 26 at the home of Rev. G. W. Longenecker, who performed the ceremony. Emily Jacklin, sister of the bride, and Craig Asplin, brother of the groom were the attendants.

The bride wore a suit of white crepe and white accessories and a corsage bouquet of pink roses and white sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a suit of sharkskin, white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and sweet peas.

A wedding supper for 16 guests were served at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride has been a lifelong resident of this community and graduated from Neillsville High School in the class of 1936. She was very popular with her school mates and was secretary and treasure of the graduating class, a member of the glee club in 1935 and active in the girl’s athletic association. The groom also has lived in Weston all his life and is known as a young man of many known as a young man of many sterling qualities. He is employed at the Western Condensing company at Owen where they will make their home.
