A heart attack Friday night proved fatal to Phil J. Faulks, Lincoln township farmer prominent for his work in farm organization and clerk of his school district, number four, for the past 15 years.

Exertion brought about in attempting to lift a sick cow into a sling after a hard day’s work in the field was credited with causing Mr. Faulks’ illness Thursday night. He lingered until 11:15 Friday night when the end came quietly.

Born in Waupaca township, Waupaca county, on June 5, 1886. Mr. Faulks attended school and high school there before coming to Loyal in 1903 where he was employed at a stave factory.

Later he returned to Waupaca and in 1905 moved to California, where he engaged in carpenter work at Pasadena for two years before returning to Wisconsin and following the same line of work at Milwaukee.

He spent six years operating his father’s farm near Waupaca and in 1916 came to the town of Lincoln and purchased a farm.

He was married to Miss Ethel Prior at Loyal on April 14, 1909, and two daughters, Arla Mae and Dorothy Viola were born to them. Mrs. Faulks died in October 21, 1920 and on June 21, 1923, Mr. Faulks married Miss Mabel Rowland, daughter of a former Wood county superintendent of schools at Wisconsin Rapids.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, his mother, Mrs. Chloe Faulks, Waupaca; three sisters, Mrs. Zoe Smith, Milwaukee, Mrs. Eugene Prior, Wauconda, Ill., and Mrs. Gordon Clark, Green Bay, and one brother, John of Milwaukee.

Mr. Faulks was of a genial disposition that made him many friends. His loss is keenly felt in the community in which he lived and the sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1 P.M. Monday, Rev. John Birrell officiating. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.
