----- Quinell, Herbert (21 JUL 1867 - 21 FEB 1955)

Herbert Quinnell, age 87, Rt. 2 Neillsville, died February 21, 1955, at his home from old age complications. Funeral services were held February 24, 1955 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bergemann funeral home. The Rev. Frank Harcey was the officiant and interment was in the Neillsville cemetery.

Mr. Quinnell was born July 21, 1867 in Surrey England. He received his education in England and worked as a caretaker for a banker’s estate. On April 22, 1888, he was married to Elizabeth Williams in St. Nicholas’ church in Sutton England which is about 15 miles from London. Soon after their marriage they left for America, arriving here on May 2, 1888. They settled in the Sidney area in the town of Pine Valley. He worked for six years in the charcoal factory in Sidney and had made his home in that community since that time. Mr. Quinnell was a member of the school board for several years and also served a fire warden for the town of Pine Valley for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, who is 89 years of age, and the following children: Herbert Quinnell of Spooner; Percy Quinnell, San Diego, Cal; Mrs. Elizabeth Crothers, Neillsville; Miss Ada Quinnell, Chicago; Mrs. John (Frances) O’Meara, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Robert Quinnell, Neillsville; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Fred of Montana and Albert of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Winters, Kennan, Wis; Mrs. Leo (Minnie) Dussek of England.

One son, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
