Nigon, Clair John (10 Dec. 1922 - 31 March 1998)

LOYAL, Wis. Clair John Nigon, 75, of Loyal, Wis., died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit in Marshfield, Wis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser and Joseph Follmar will officiate.

Additional services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minn. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday at Rinka Funeral Home in Loyal, Wis. Further visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minn.

Mr. Nigon was born on Dec. 10, 1922, in Rochester to Frank and Mary (Hanrahan) Nigon. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Eyota High School in Eyota, Minn.

He married Geraldine Gulstrand on Oct. 6, 1951, in Minneapolis. He farmed near Viola, Minn., worked for the Rochester Turkey Hatchery and at the Guest House in Rochester. They moved to Greenwood, Wis., in 1978, and he farmed until retiring in 1987. During his retirement, Mr. Nigon enjoyed driving the Amish. He had lived in Loyal for 11 years.

Survivors include his wife; eight sons, Richard of St. Paul, Minn., Daryl of Rochester, Minn., Harold of Rudolph, Wis., James and Martin, both of Greenwood, Wis., Raymond of Cottage Grove, Wis., Michael of Hansen and Stephen of Spencer, Wis.; two daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Paul) Lindner of Rochester, Minn., and Patricia (Mrs. Scott) Brown of New Trier, Minn.; 30 grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Nigon of Rochester, Minn.; and one sister, Lorraine Pries of Byron, Minn.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
