BASKET BALL

As advertised the Dorchester and Unity basket ball teams met at Pettet’s hall last Saturday evening and pulled off a very interesting game which resulted in a victory for the home team. At the close of the first half it looked as …rest is cut off.

A SURPRISE

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Anderson and family contemplate removing from our midst in the near future, consequently the Ladies Aid planned a neat little surprise to take place Monday evening, according to the deep laid plans of the ancient order the members and their devoted hubbies and gentlemen friends were to meet at the Post Office at 8 o’clock and then in a body, charge on the Anderson home, at the appointed time the procession started but with broken ranks owing to the inability of a few to get there at the exact hour, desiring to make Mrs. A a suitable present they stopped at one of the stores to make a purchase, in the meantime one of the belated sisters who, by the way superintends the culinary department in one of the best hotels in this neck of the woods [nuf said] hustled down to the Post Office only to find the crowd departed, as she supposed to Anderson home so taking a 3:40 gait she soon ….rest is cut off

HIGH SCHOOL NOTES

Rev. N.H. Philpot made us a pleasant call Wednesday.

Lena Durkee withdrew last week ill health being the cause.

Everett Hirsch a member of the Junior class is again on the sick list.

The latter half of this week will be devoted to our regular examinations. As the quality of work done since the holidays has been good results will appear later.

The question as to what the expression “the long and the short of it” meant came up in reading the other day. Are expectant junior relied “the senior class of 1903.”

The last meeting of the literary organization proved the most interesting held this far. The criticism prepared by Miss Edwards was a valuable feature. A surprise by way of refreshments was prepared by the ladies.
