Louise F. Alger, age 99, former Stanley-Thorp area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp, WI.

Services wee held on Tuesday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, WI with Pastor Daniel Welch officiating. Burial followed in the East Thorp Cemetery, Thorp, WI. Visitation was held on Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI and one hour prior to service time at the church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Louise was born in Lincoln, MO on October 12, 1906, the daughter of Hans and Dorothy (Hesse) Anton. As a young girl she moved with her family to Thief River Falls, MN and at the age of 19 moved to St. Paul, MN to work. She later moved to Thorp to be with her sister and met and married Sidney Alger, Sr. on October 14, 1925. They were blessed with eleven children. They resided and farmed in the Town of Worden and then later the Town of Thorp. After the death of her husband in 1969 she moved to Stanley, WI working at the Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls, WI from 1970-1986 and the Badger Inn in Stanley, WI. In 2001 she moved to the Morgan Plaza, Thorp, WI and later to Oakbrook Manor in 2003. She was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, WI. Louise had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time gardening, crocheting, and traveling on tours. She will be remembered by her family for many things but truly missed for all of her wonderful baked breads, cookies and sweets.

Louise is survived by her eleven children: Sidney, Jr. (Lorraine) Alger of Thorp, WI, Jack (Elaine) Alger of St. Paul, MN, Dick (Rosie) Alger of Thorp, WI; Arlene (Norbert) Seichter of Boyd, WI; Kenneth (Betty) Alger of Thorp, WI; William (Maxine) Alger of North Branch, MN; Joan (Tom) Ruff and Jeanie (Tom) Stelter both of Milwaukee, WI; Carol (Dave) Teclaw of Hopkins, MN; Jerry (Sue) Alger of Big Bend, WI; and Sandy (Jim) Erickson of Raliegh, NC; one sister: Helen Proetz of Duluth, MN plus 187 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sidney in 1969, three great-grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters.
