Granton – News Briefs

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Morrissey of Milwaukee, Mrs. Rose Morrissey of California, Mr. and Mrs. Roarity and daughters of Stevens Pine, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Schoengrath and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Finnegan were guests of Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Rath at their summer cottage Sunday.

Duane, the three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zallmer, fractured his left arm at the elbow in a fall at his home Saturday.

Mrs. Carl Bloche and daughter, Agatha and Nelda, and son, Ewald, and Mr. Kelpin, all of Grass Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Ferd Helm, Route 2, were supper guests of Mrs. L. E. Mohr and family Thursday night.

Mrs. Jessie Davis, Racine, spent the weekend here with friends. Saturday night several members of her former card club were entertained at the Dr. R. R. Rath home, with lunch served at the Coffee Shop.

Mrs. Ed Schroeder and daughter, Miss Marie, returned last night from a week’s visit with the former’s sister, Mrs. Grace Wallace, and family at Janesville. Miss Marie also visited friends at Milwaukee.

Harold Smith, Kathryn and Patty Winn spent Monday at Stevens Pine.

Miss Lila Montgomery, Nekoosa, spent Sunday here with her mother, Mrs. Alice Montgomery. In the afternoon Miss Montgomery and her brother, Bob, drove to Wausau to visit a friend at the sanitarium near Wausau.

Ernest Mabie, who is employed on the farm of the Hylandale academy near Rockton, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mabie. Sunday his parents and sisters, Adeline and Irene, and brother, Ted, took him back to his work.

Sam Cook and T. D. Wage spent Sunday at Spokeville, where they visited with friends.

Rev. and Mrs. J. G. Buth and family left Sunday night for a several days’ visit with relatives at New Doulgass, Ill., and St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. R. E. Krunkie and daughter, Doreen, of Osseo have been spending several days here with her sister, Mrs. Wm. Young.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Sweet returned to their home in Rice Lake Saturday after a visit here with his mother, Mrs. Hattie Hayden, and brother, Frank.

Geo. Myllenbeck has returned to his home in Tyler, Minn., after a month’s visit here with his daughter, Mrs. Louis Knoop, and family on Route 2 and old neighbors.

Jack True, who makes his home with his aunt, Mrs. Ben Beeckler, has accompanied an uncle on a trip to Canada.

Mrs. Odin Wang and daughters of Black River Falls spent Tuesday with her mother, Mrs. Thos. Skaar and sister, Mrs. Walter Trimberger.

Willard Schultz, Monticello, was a business caller here last week.

The executive board of the Women’s Civic club met at the Wm. Schmidtke home Friday. Plans for the get-together day were discussed, and the date was tentatively set for Wednesday, September 14.
