Surname: Hart, Travis, Chapel, Davis Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 15 Sept. 1938 -----Hart, Mr./Mrs. Geo. W. (Golden – 5 Sept. 1938) Monday, September 5, 1938, the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Hart was observed at their home at Humbird. A reception was held in the afternoon when nearly 100 guests called to congratulate the couple. The home and law were decorated in gold colors and dainty refreshments were served. In the evening a seven o’clock dinner was served to 28 members of the family. Two lovely wedding cakes graced the table. Many fine gifts and messages of congratulations came to Mr. and Mrs. Hart on this occasion. Fifty years ago, September 5, 1888, Mr. and Mrs. Hart were united in marriage by Deacon C. B. Travis at Humbird. The bride was about 14 and the groom was 19. They have been blessed with health and happiness throughout the years. Mr. Hart came in this section of the county from Castleton, Ontario, in 1886. He worked in Water’s Mill and in logging camps. Mrs. Hart was the daughter of pioneer parents. She was born on a farm at Fairchild. Mr. Hart has been engaged in farming and in the meat business since their marriage and they lived in this vicinity almost continuously. Mr. and Mrs. Hart have three children: Mrs. Charles Chapel, Marshfield; Mrs. Leland Davis, Neillsville, and one son, Roy A. Hart of Humbird. All their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were present for the celebration. They have three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Still active and in good health, Mr. and Mrs. Hart enjoy occasional visits at the homes of their children, they like to fist and are keenly interested in the affairs of their community.
