Miss Faith Sydney Buchanan, a former teacher in the Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) schools, was united in marriage to R. James Tolford of Thorp (Clark Co.) last Thursday at Superior. The following account of the wedding is taken from the Superior Telegram:

“A smart simplicity was apparent in the wedding of Miss Faith Sydney Buchanan to R. James Tolford of Thorp, Wis., which was solemnized at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Church of St. Alban the Martyr, with the Rev. Guy L. Hill, rector, officiating.

Prior to and during the ceremony Mrs. W.S. Wingate played a program of nuptial music on the organ. At each side of the altar there was a large basket of gladioli and at either side of the chancel steps, where the first half of the ceremony is said, was a similar basket of hydrangeas. Cathedral candles were on the altar.

The bride, who was unattended, wore her traveling ensemble for the wedding. The blue and white costume comprise a blue ostrich wool traveling dress, strictly tailored, matching blue shoes and hat of woven straw, white kid gloves and a shoulder corsage of white gardenias.

Mr. and Mrs. Tolford left immediately after the ceremony on a motor trip to Minneapolis and after June 1 will reside in Thorp, where they have purchased a home.

Out of town guests were Mrs. R.H. Tolford, the groom’s mother, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Conway, his brother-in-law and sister, all of Thorp, and L.W. Tostevin of Chicago, the bride’s uncle. They were part of a group composed of members of the two immediate families who were entertained at a 1 o’clock luncheon Thursday at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Ruth Tostevin Buchanan, Byron Court Apartments.

Last Saturday the bride was guest of honor at an afternoon bridge shower for 12 guests, given by Miss Mollie Rock, 2020 Hammond Avenue. Other parties were given by Miss Sarah Turney, Miss Ann McMahon, Mrs. Raymond E. Russell, Mrs. Sig Thrana of Duluth and Miss Eleanor Jane Orchard.

Mrs. Tolford was a member of Drama Study sorority at State Teachers College. She later studied art at the Milwaukee Normal School and attended summer sessions at the Universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota.”
