A large and beautiful wedding took place at Stanley on Wednesday forenoon, Oct 12th, when Miss Helen Backen of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was united in marriage to Dail Shortell, son of Mrs. Pat Shortell of Worden (Clark Co.), Father O’Connor officiating.

The bride was attired in a most gorgeous coral pink chiffon crepe dress, ankle length. She wore a glamorous white veil and carried a beautiful bouquet of roses and geraniums.

The bride was attended by Miss Ann Shortell, sister of the groom. The bridesmaid was attired in a lovely old rose flat crepe dress, ankle length, and carried a bouquet of roses and geraniums.

The groom was attended by August Konsella of Hannibal.

A reception dinner and supper were held at the Shortell home for immediate friends and relatives.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Rome Konsella and family of Hannibal; Alis Annie Konsella of Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Olson and family of Spencer; Mrs. Herman Pittelkow and son, Gerald, Mrs. Thora Hegstead and daughters, Opal and Lillian, and son, Clarence, all of Minneapolis Minn.; Olaf Twait of Longwood, and Nels of Minneapolis, and several others.

A free wedding dance was given at the Tourist Park in the evening. Music was furnished by the Benart Brothers of Thorp and Bill O’Dell of Beaver.

The bride and groom left for Minneapolis where they plan on making their future residence.
